UNM officers arrest reckless driving suspect

UNMPD detained a man for reckless driving as well as driving on a revoked license on Nov. 21.

Two officers were returning from Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center when they encountered a black sedan gaining speed as it entered the freeway by way of the Coors on-ramp.

The sedan, operated by Manuel Green, changed lanes numerous times and continued to accelerate, reaching 105 mph, according to the police report.

Officers stopped the vehicle and booked Green on charges of driving on a revoked license and reckless driving.

UNM employee assaulted after stopping theft

A UNM Athletics Department employee was allegedly assaulted on Nov. 15 following the Lobo football game.

The employee stated in the police report that he observed a male and female attempting to take two Comcast cable rugs from University Stadium near the media-elevator area. When the employee confronted the pair, the female left and returned in a white car to pick up the male.

The employee stated in the report that he was hit by an unopened beer can in the back as the car drove away. There are no suspects in the case.

Man passes out in Hokona, taken to UNMH

UNM Police were sent to the third floor of the Hokona Hall early on Nov. 27 after someone reported a male passed out in one of the hall's women's bathrooms.

At about 4 a.m. officers located the man, later identified as Daniel Hamilton, who appeared to be suffering from alcohol poisoning and was drifting in and out of consciousness.

The police report states Hamilton had to be carried to a waiting ambulance, where he was transferred to UNMH for treatment.
