Ten dispatchers added to communication center
ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - More dispatchers have gone to work in the city's communications center as part of a plan to improve response to 911 calls.
Ten people hired full time for the dispatch center went to work Saturday night. Many of the new workers have previous dispatching experience.
The trainees, many of whom came from a temporary employment agency, were hired after Mayor Martin Chavez pledged to add to the dispatch center after a Sept. 12 incident in which calls about a shooting were not immediately answered.
