Man arrested after refusing to leave party

Campus police arrested and cited a UNM student for criminal trespass June 17 after he allegedly refused to leave a party at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house.

Police were sent to the house at about 1:30 a.m. to quiet things down, and while they were telling partygoers to stay inside, Mark Stanton, a 21-year-old UNM student, allegedly began to loudly object to the officers' request.

The police report states that Stanton told police he did not live at the SAE house and that there was no one near the house to complain about any noise.

Officers reportedly told Stanton to leave numerous times while he made a loud buzzing noise directed toward them.

Police reportedly told Stanton to leave in 30 seconds or else he would be arrested. An officer approached Stanton as he backed away into a nearby street, arrested him and took him to the campus police station where he was cited for trespass and released.

A copy of the police report was forwarded to the dean of students.

The police report states that the truck was parked near the Lobo Tennis Club and between 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. someone took the employee's toolbox containing several miscellaneous hand tools valued at $335.

Police have no suspects in the theft.

Campus vending service reports $25,000 stolen

A manager for ARAMARK, the company providing exclusive food vending services to the UNM campus, reported to campus police June 28 that someone has taken $25,000 from the company's change account.

The campus police report, filed June 23, states that the manager said the money was taken out in 15 separate stages between January and May 2003.

The case was forwarded on June 23 to the Detectives Division of the UNM Police Department for investigation.

Andrew Walder, the ARAMARK manager who reported the suspected theft to police, declined to comment citing his need to obtain further information before speaking about the matter or its investigation.

Knife confiscated after field trip 'poking' incident

Campus police were sent to Johnson Gym to respond to a call of aggravated battery.

According to the police report, campus police were told that a 12-year-old boy had allegedly "poked" one of his classmates with a knife while on a campus trip to Johnson Center June 17.

No charges were filed and campus police did not hear back from the parents of the boy who was "poked" to determine if he sustained an injury.

Police confiscated the knife so it could be destroyed.
