Campus police conducted a full search of Dane Smith Hall May 12 after an unidentified male called the UNM Police Station and said four bombs were planted in the building and that they were set to go off in 20 minutes.

James Daniels, commander of the campus police force, ordered five officers to evacuate the building and then immediately search it. The Albuquerque Fire Department was notified by police and put on standby, but officers did not find any explosives and reopened the building about a half-hour after beginning their search. The police report does not state if officers have any suspects in the incident, but the case was forwarded to the UNMPD detectives division.
