The Grand Canyon State has been the site of two top-10 finishes for the UNM men's golf team this spring - a trend it hopes to continue with a trip to the ASU Thunderbird Intercollegiate in Tempe, Ariz., April 11-12.
The Lobos, who moved up four spots to No. 17 in the Golfweek/Sagarin poll with a second-place finish in Tucson last week, will have a slightly different look this time around.
As always, senior Michael Letzig will play number one for UNM. Accompanying him will be freshman Jay Choi, sophomore Madalitso Muthiya and juniors Ian Medlock and Derek Abel.
Sophomore Jay Reynolds will rest his still-recovering back. Millican said the lineup change should not affect team chemistry.
"Ian has played in all but one event for us this year and Derek has played in three," Millican said. "It's basically been these six guys traveling together all year, so it shouldn't mess it up too much."
For the second straight week, the Lobos will face a course that features a tough finishing hole. The 471-yard par-4 18th is a stern test from start to finish. Hidden bunkers down the right side of the fairway make accuracy a must off the tee, and the second shot is over a lake that fronts the green.

The rest of the 7,057-yard ASU Karsten Course, however, is fairly innocuous.
"In years past, scores have been really low there," Millican said.
The Lobos have had more success this year on courses where par is a good score than on birdie-bonanza, shootout-style layouts.
But Millican remains hopeful.
"You never know what these guys are going to do," he said. "They might just go out there and light it up."
