UNM baseball player Josh Jezek and Ashley VanBoxmeer of the softball team are this week's New Mexico Daily Lobo Athletes of the Week.
Jezek delivered a game-winning single in the final contest of the series with San Diego State University Sunday for a 5-4 comeback victory. The junior came into the game, replacing outfielder Matt Young, who was injured after sliding into home plate in the third inning.
VanBoxmeer had an outstanding week at the plate getting hits in six of 12 at bats in four games. The freshman shortstop also had four extra base hits, including three doubles and a home run. VanBoxmeer drove in seven runs and scored three more in the games against BYU and Utah.
