Duff Lill, a junior majoring in finance, said he is running for ASUNM Senate because he has experienced the executive side of student government and wants to make a difference on the legislative.
"I was executive lobbying director for ASUNM," Lill said. "Lobbying was definitely an experience. I got to see first hand how the legislature works and I learned how processes like faculty compensation and full-formula funding work."
Lill said that as lobbying director, he helped pass a bill that ensures year-round tax-free textbooks for UNM students.
"It was the fourth year trying, we finally got it passed," he said.
Lill said he strongly agrees with the platform of the Horizon slate.
"We have three goals," he said. "Create Fall Storm, which would be a one-day campus beautification project, increase communication between ASUNM and the student body by coming together for a one-day, tell-all gathering where students could voice their concerns and increase safety on campus by putting plaques on light posts with a number to call the physical plant if they go out."

Lill said he is really looking forward to the opportunity of being a senator and would like to help out students in any way he can.
"Our campus is non-traditional so we have to keep showing students what the University has to offer," he said. "We need to make sure that students know that everyone's opinion does count."
Lill is a member of Association of Information Technology Professionals and Sigma Phi Epsilon. He is also a recruitment officer for the Inter-Fraternity Council and was chosen for Who's Who of America and is on the Dean's List.
Lill correctly identified Larry Willard, Jack Fortner and Andrea Cook as regents; AFRICA, the Ultimate Frisbee Club and HESO as student groups; Brian Foster as provost and Chris Garcia as UNM president.
