The UNM softball team won two games Saturday, pounding out seven extra base hits in the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Tournament.
In the first game, the Lobos came on strong, scoring first with four runs in the second inning en route to defeating Eastern Michigan, 7-4.
Catcher Kim Korsak singled to right field with one out. Ashley Shartzer then reached on an error and Elena Cranmer hit a double, scoring Korsak. Ora Hensley continued the rally by singling through the left side, scoring Shartzer. Kelly Glass grounded out to second, bringing Cranmer home and Hensley scored on a wild pitch. UNM finished the second inning with a 4-0 lead.
In the third inning, UNM scored multiple runs as two runners reached base on walks. Cranmer came up and doubled in two runs. Another run in the sixth secured the victory for UNM.
Iraina Ogas got the victory on the mound, throwing a one-hit game going into the seventh inning. Dumas came on in relief, earning her first save of the year by inheriting a runner on third with no outs. Orgas saved the game for UNM.

Offensively, three UNM hitters recorded multiple hits. Jamar Bynum was 2-3 with one RBI. Cranmer was 2-3 with one double and three RBI’s. Hensley was 3-3 with a single, a double, a triple and one RBI.
The Lobos defeated host school, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 7-0 in the second game, thanks to Amy Dumas. Dumas pitched the complete game shutout for the Lobos. She relinquished only three hits and struck out five with no walks.
The Lobos struck first, scoring a single run in the first. Ashley VanBoxmeer began the second inning by hitting a triple and came around on a wild pitch. Shartzer then walked with Cranmer attempting a sacrifice, but reaching on an error. Kelly Glass singled next, scoring Shartzer.
The Lobos went into their final game 3-1 with Wichita State last night for their final game in the tourney.
