Letter: Women's basketball great asset for UNM

A hearty congratulation is in order to the Lobos after their two victories in the NCAA tournament.

Coach Flanagan and his staff have built a solid, well-respected program with many good student-athletes stepping up to contribute from both the past and present, too. I was impressed with the coach humbly deflecting credit onto the team for their recent victory over Mississippi State University.

As the attendance record set Saturday shows, people have learned of the great entertainment value of the women's basketball team. I believe collegiate women's basketball is exciting and as pure a game as there is. There is no better example than right here at UNM.

Good luck ladies in the Sweet 16 round.
