LETTER: Anti-war protesters act inconsiderately

Editor,

I do not intend to cover the topic of war. That is not the purpose of this letter. I intend only to discuss the protest on Wednesday.

I am glad people protested on Wednesday because that gave the student body the opportunity to see what war protestors actually do.

The classes were at peace with students intently paying attention to their studies at hand. Then the classes of Mitchell Hall were suddenly and deliberately invaded by the forces of war protestors. Disruption ensued. A vociferous horde had swarmed upon Mitchell Hall. Innocent doors were viciously beaten, and generally thrown about their hinges with no regard for humanity. A braying issued from the war protestors: “Get up. Walk out. We wanna hear you shout.” This disruptive braying horde blockaded professors’ discussions, and students’ minds from exploring any new wisdom, except one. The war protestors verified their direct lineage to Balaam’s ass. Other disruptions of peace were made after this, but I did not witness those events and I will not discuss them. However, the braying horde, after a short cessation, returned and launched their raid of peace upon Mitchell Hall once more.

A protest of any sort for any cause is understandable and a right in this country. Far be it from anyone to deny us those basic human rights. We are a free people in a free land. We are free to speak our minds, but we should have the common decency to not trample upon another’s rights. Remember, the freedom of speech and the right to peacefully assemble was only an amendment. We should insure domestic tranquility and promote the general welfare of our brothers and sisters as it states in the Preamble of our beloved Constitution. Do not treat this lightly, it gives you the ability to bray in a peaceful assembly.
