The UNM Presidential Search Committee will conduct 12 to 15 interviews in Dallas for the next president of UNM Thursday through Saturday.
Committee Chairwoman Maria Griego-Raby said that conducting interviews out of town for high profile jobs is a standard practice and that Dallas provides an inexpensive, easily accessible hub. She said she did not know how much the University was paying for the committee members' and candidates' travel expenses.
The committee consists of 11 members.
Griego-Raby said that after the interviews, the committee will meet back in Albuquerque, possibly with the full UNM Board of Regents. After those meetings, the committee will pick five finalists.
"At the end of March or beginning of April, we expect to invite the five finalists to our campus to meet with faculty, staff, alumni, the community and students," Griego-Raby said.
She added that the pool is very diverse and that the candidates all bring extensive backgrounds to the table.
