Freshman forward David Chiotti of the men's basketball team and freshman Kathrin Spendier of the Alpine ski team are this week's New Mexico Daily Lobo Athletes of the Week.
Chiotti played a vital role in the Lobos win over Air Force Saturday, leading the game in rebounds, with seven. He also had two blocks and was the second leading scorer for the Lobos with 10 points. Chiotti shot 100 percent in Saturday's game.
Spendier stepped up unexpectedly this weekend, to lead the Lobo ski team. Spendier placed first in the women's Slalom Race, finishing the course in a career-best time of 1:21.62. It was the first blue-ribbon in her young career.
