The UNM swimming and diving team opened 2003 with two dominating wins over the University of Houston and the Air Force Academy this weekend to raise their records to 7-1 overall and 4-2 in the Mountain West Conference.
Friday, the Lobos easily handled Houston, downing the Cougars 142-101. UNM then topped MWC foe the Air Force Academy 162-135 Saturday.
Against Houston, the Lobos won nine of 11 events. Freshman Robyn Miller and sophomore Aimee Dunavant both claimed two first-place finishes apiece.
Miller won the 200 meter free with a time of 1:55.07 and set a personal best in winning the 200 meter back with a time of 2:07.75.
Dunavant won the 200 fly with a time of 2:11.80 and the 200 intermediate with a time of 2:15.11.

The foursome of Miller, Myra Will, Whitney Thompson and Kelsey Leckovic also won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:39.93.
The UNM diving duo of sophomore Becca Barras and Kaley Knafelc finished fourth and fifth behind Houston's Yulia Pakhalina, the 2002 NCAA champion in the three-meter springboard event and runner up in the one-meter. Pakhalina won both the three-meter and one-meter events Friday.
Against the Falcons, seven different Lobos scored first place finishes. Myra Will managed victories in both the spring and free events with times of 53:36 and 24.07 respectively. Robyn Miller continued her phenomenal season with two more wins. Miller won the 200 back with a time of 2:10.83 and the 200 free with a time of 2:13.16.
Becca Barras won both the three-meter and one-meter springboard events. Barras won the one-meter with a personal best score of 280.42.
UNM's 4000 medley relay team also won with a time of 4:01.23.
The Lobos take on the University of Utah Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Seider Natatorium. The Utes are currently 7-6 overall and 2-1 in conference.
