LETTER: Lobo 'anti-American'

Editor,

I find it amazing that you can print something as awful as the opinion letter about the war in Wednesday's paper.

I understand that it is just an opinion but anti-American opinions like that should not be given such publication. Whether or not people agree with who the president is or his decisions are their own opinions. But let us not forget that "we the people" voted him into office and he is doing the best job possible and we have to believe and have faith in the system, otherwise why be an American. Our troops are showing great courage and demand our respect, as does our president.

It is easy to say we would do things differently if we were in that position, but we aren't and I doubt that that immature, opinionated person who found it so easy to degrade our leader and our troops could do half as good of a job as President Bush. I find it appalling and disrespectful that anyone can say to the armed forces of the United States of America not follow their leader and to make a choice about going to war. Well, the truth is that they already made that choice and if our troops can't follow their own leader, then who can they follow?

It is views like the one I read on Wednesday that will be the downfall of our great nation. Having the freedom of being an American is a privilege and an honor and yet people abuse that freedom by backstabbing the very nation that gave it to them. This war isn't the president's doing nor does he want. This has been a long time coming and should have been finished years ago in the Gulf War.

I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I can't imagine that you would print one so full of anti-Americanism. If there was ever a time that we need to pull together and support our country, it is now. We need to put our opinions aside and pull for our nation not against it. That the Lobo even printed such an atrocity is disturbing and I don't care whether or not you agree, that should have never been printed in the United States of America.

I don't expect for this to be printed, but I want you to know how offended I am. I hope you will think about what I have said and choose more wisely next time.
