Students offered free ticket to 'City of Sin'

Staff Report

A free ticket and ride to the City of Sin.

That's the deal UNM has put together for full-time students with a valid LoboCard who want to cheer for the football team at the SEGA Sports Las Vegas Bowl, Dec. 25, at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev..

The "LoboBus" will leave early in the morning Monday, Dec. 23, and will return late in the evening Thursday, Dec. 26. Students can bring one guest on the bus for free. Additional guest seats will cost $55. Guest tickets for the game will cost $25 -- the base ticket price for non-UNM students.

The free student tickets can only be picked up on the "LoboBus" or at the official hotel, the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino.

The Golden Nugget will also offer a special $45 room rate for students. The rate is based on four-person occupancy. Students and their guests can make reservations by calling 1-800-634-3454 and asking for the "Lobo Special."

The bowl game, the Lobos' second in five years, will pit UNM against the fifth selection from the Pacific Ten Conference.

The Las Vegas Bowl committee has not yet invited a Pac-10 team, but should by Sunday. Among the schools that could end up in the bowl game are Oregon State University, the University of Washington or UCLA.

UNM was invited to the Las Vegas Bowl Monday. The Lobos, who finished the regular season 7-6 and 5-2 in Mountain West Conference, earned the bid by finishing second place in the MWC. They became bowl-eligible Saturday after defeating the University of Wyoming 49-20.
