Trojans rally to beat UNM 55-48

Although the Lobos' women's basketball team stayed on top of the University of Southern California Trojans throughout the entire first half, UNM was defeated 55-48 Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles.

The first half of the game was slow paced and the Trojans kept it close. At intermission, the Lobos were leading USC by one point, 20-19.

At the beginning of the second half, both teams came out looking confident and more aggressive. The Lobos dominated most of the second half, capitalizing on a 14-3 run halfway through the second period.

However, USC made a strong comeback late in the game and took the lead after an 11-3 run, including back-to-back 3-point shots. The Lobos tied the game 45-45 with 2:46 left to play, but then committed five fouls, resulting in seven points for the Trojans. USC also took advantage of 31 UNM turnovers.

The Lobos' Jordan Adams was the leading scorer in the game, with 21 points. She also had five defensive rebounds. UNM guard Mandi Moore led the Lobos in rebounds with nine. Moore also scored four points and had six assists. Senior Chelsea Grear contributed nine points and four boards.

UNM finished the night shooting 47 percent from the field and out-rebounding the Trojans 32-30.

Next, the Lobos play the Cal-State Titans in Fullerton, Calif. Tip off is at 8 p.m. The game will be broadcast on KNML, 610-AM.
