The UNM men's soccer team moved on to the second round of NCAA tournament for the second-straight year with a victory over Bradley University 2-1 in Peoria, Ill., Saturday night.
The Lobos got on the board first when they were awarded a free kick outside the box in the 34th minute. Freshman Ricky Francis blasted a shot into the Bradley defense that deflected to UNM freshman Jeff Rowland. Rowland took the ball and put it past the Braves goalkeeper in the lower right side for a 1-0 lead. The Lobos would take that lead into the half.
In the second frame, UNM would strike again. After being awarded another free kick in the 53rd minute, Francis found senior captaion Junro Narita in the middle of the Bradley defense. Narita took the pass and blasted it by the keeper for his fifth goal of the year and a 2-0 Lobo advantage.
Bradley's Luke Kreamalmeyer cut the lead in half when he scored in the 68th minute to make it 2-1. Kreamalmeyer nearly had the equalizer when he wound up for a shot in the 75th minute. UNM's Brandon Moss came to the rescue poking the shot away just in time.
Sohomore Lobo goalkeeper Andrew Webber was solid between the pipes collecting four save on five shots on net. Francis was also key in coming up with both assists for UNM.
