Recruiters from more than 60 of the nation's top law programs will be at UNM scouring for potential students Saturday at the first "New Mexico Law Day."
The event, co-sponsored by UNM and the Western Association of Pre-Law Advisors, will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the South Gym in Johnson Center.
The event is open to students at higher education institutions and adults not currently enrolled in classes.
The event will be open to adults because according to a UNM press release, many adults enter law school as the beginning of a second career, with only 30 percent of them coming directly from undergraduate programs.
The New Mexico Law Day will end a weeklong series of events at universities throughout the Southwest.

Participating schools in Saturday's event will include UNM, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Duke, the University of California at Berkeley, Tulane and Brigham Young University.
"It is very exciting that so many well-known schools are coming to UNM to recruit our students," said Ellen Grigsby, UNM pre-law advisor and Western Association of Pre-Law member in the press release. "As an advisor I have students come to me and ask what law schools are looking for; this event allows students to ask those schools firsthand."
