Led by junior Sarah Gonzales, the University of New Mexico women's cross country team ran to an eighth place finish in a field of 16 teams at the 66th annual Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla.
Gonzales, now fully recovered from an early season illness, led the team for the second straight race.
On the men's side, freshman Brandon Vigil paced a foursome of non-scoring runners. The rest of the 27th-ranked Lobos squad rested in preparation for the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Oct. 19.
Gonzales, an Albuquerque native, finished 37th in the 5K, posting a time of 18:59.
Junior Amanda Swann was next finishing 56th in a time of 19:29. She was followed by freshman Janice Tosa who finished 63rd in 19:37, Karina Hill-Hurtado 68th in 19:40, and Sophomore Racquel Ricci 75th in 19:46.

Freshman Timmie Murphy and sophomore Vanessa Funston finished off the Lobos' top-seven in 78th and 94th place, respectively.
The men's squad got a solid performance from Vigil in the 8K. He finished 64th with a time of 25:59.
Junior Leighton Katsuda and sophomore Nate Clem followed in 99th and 115th.
Sophomore Joachin Marjon finished in 172nd place in only his second competition of the season.
The men's team returns to full strength against the nation's elite at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. in two weeks.
Individual and team results comprised at Pre-Nationals will weigh heavily on the Lobos' chances to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which take place Nov. 25 in Terre Haute.
After the Mountain West Conference Cahmpionships in Provo, Utah Nov. 2, UNM hosts the NCAA Mountain Region Championships at the UNM North Golf Course Nov.16.
