Body found in dorm last week now identified

Officials from the state Office of the Medical Investigator announced Monday that they have identified the body of a UNM student found in a Student Residence Center apartment.

The body of Frank Baca, 47, a senior who studied sociology, was discovered by a University housing crew Friday. UNM police said although there is no evidence of foul play, they are still investigating Baca's death as a homicide as a precautionary measure.

Baca's body, which had been in the room for an undisclosed amount of time, had been decomposed so much that identification by traditional methods was impossible, said UNM Police Department Commander James Daniels.

Daniels said Baca's next of kin were notified Monday by UNM police.
