UNM quarterback Casey Kelly and tennis player Maja Kovacek are this week's Daily Lobo Athletes of the Week.
Kelly led the Lobos to a much-needed 42-35 victory over Utah. He completed 11 of 23 passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns including an 80-yard strike to wide receiver Dwight Counter. Kelly also set a career-high in rushing with 55 yards on 12 carries.
Kovacek played excellent tennis this weekend in winning the backdraw championship at the Central Regional Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The Pula, Croatia native swept through the finals defeating Courtney Steinbock of Kansas 6-3, 6-2.
