The University of New Mexico women's golf team pulled off its second consecutive Comcast Dick McGuire Invitational victory on Saturday at the UNM Championship Golf Course.
The Lobos led wire to wire posting a final round 302 to hold off a charging University of Washington and Pepperdine University who tied for second place.
UNM finished with a three-day total of 891 (+15) defeating Washington and Pepperdine by seven shots.
The Lobos battled winds and cool conditions in winning the 24th annual tournament that featured 19 teams. Last year when UNM won the tournament, only eight other teams competed.
UNM was without last year's best player Kristi Larsen who is out with a bone chip in her hand. Kailin Downs stepped up to lead the team shooting an even par 219, finishing in fifth place individually. The Lobos proved to be young and good using two juniors and three sophomores in their five-person team.
