Three UNM athletes were awarded player of the week honors for their performances during the weekend.
Senior linebacker Charles Moss was named the Mountain West Conference defensive player of the week in football, while junior forward Marte Dolva was named MWC women's soccer player of the week. Freshman forward Ben Ashwill was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation player of the week in men's soccer.
Moss tallied a game- and career-high 19 tackles in the Lobos 38-31 overtime loss to the Air Force Academy.
Ashwill scored four goals in the men's soccer team's last three wins - including two in the Lobos' 4-1 victory over the University of Illinois at Chicago in Denver Sunday. Ashwill is tied for the MPSF point lead of eight points with fellow freshman Lance Watson.
Dolva, a native of Gailo, Norway, scored three goals off 13 shots with one assist this past weekend during the Lobos' two wins in the Lobo Adidas Classic. She is currently tied for the team lead in goals.

The UNM men's basketball team begins celebration its 100th season with "The Legend of Lobo Basketball Gala" at The Pit Friday. More than 40 former Lobo players and coaches will be on hand to honor 100 years of Lobo history and tradition. Among the former Lobos scheduled to attend are Kenny Thomas, Michael Cooper, Petie Gibson, Lamont Long and former coaches Gary Colson and Greg Ellenberger.The 2002-03 squad will be on hand prior to the event for an autograph session. Autographs will be available after the gala from former players and coaches. Reserved seating is $5. Call 925-LOBO for times and more information.
