For the second year in a row, the UNM men's golf team won its own William H. Tucker Intercollegiate tournament.
Senior Michael Letzig won individual honors, shooting a final round 2-under on his way to 9-under par for the tournament.
Letzig the first Lobo to win the individual title since Doug LaBelle tied for top honors in 1997.
The Lobos shot a disappointing 7-over as a team on the final day of the tournament Saturday. But second-place team, the University of Nevada at Las Vegas (869, plus-5), could not catch up, shooting a final round 11-over par.
"I was a little disappointed in our play today, but we played well enough in the first two rounds to get the win," head coach Glen Millican said in a UNM press release. "This is a good way to start off the season."

Letzig won the individual title by three strokes, beating UNLV's Ryan Moore, who shot 6-under par. Three players were tied for third at two under.
UNM sophomore Madalitso Muthiya shot a final round of 70 finishing one over par and a tie for 12th place for UNM.
"Michael had a great weekend, he really played well," Millican said. "He shot under par all three rounds and beat some tough competition. This should really jumpstart the year."
The Lobos go to Frisco, Texas next for the University of Oklahoma's Sooner Invitational on Sept. 16 and 17.
