Staff Report
The UNM men's soccer team continued its impressive start to the season this weekend.
The Lobos improved to 4-0-0 with wins over Georgia Southern University and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
UNM's talented freshmen were impressive again in first-year head coach Jeremy Fishbein's aggressive offense. Freshman Ben Ashwill, Sam Sulfita and Brandon Moss all scored in the 3-1 win over the Eagles Friday.
Sulfita and Moss both scored their first collegiate goal while Moss netted his second goal of the season. Freshman Lance Watson got the assist on Ashwill's opening goal in the 31st minute of play.
Seniors Javier Carrasco and Junro Narita and junior Stian Eriksen helped UNM control the midfield. Narita assisted on the Lobos' second and third goals.

GSU scored its only goal early in the second half as Tommy Irwin beat UNM goalkeeper Andrew Weber.
On Sunday, the freshmen again shined in a 4-1 victory against the Flames. UIC opened the scoring in the 16th minute as Micah Howser beat Weber to give the Flames an early lead.
UNM roared back in the second half with four unanswered goals. Moss equalized in the 52th minute off an Eriksen assist. Watson put the Lobos ahead in the 69th minute on an unassisted goal. In the final ten minutes, Ashwill took over scoring a brace to give him a team leading four goals on the season.
UNM opens its home season Friday with the TLC Plumbing and Utilities Invitation. The Lobos play Cal Poly Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the UNM soccer complex.
It was all the Eagles could muster though as Narita and the midfield controlled possession to hold on for the victory.
