Senior tailback Quincy Wright of the football team and Anna Reines of the volleyball team are the New Mexico Daily Lobo Athletes of the Week.
Wright had an impressive weekend in leading the football team to a 38-24 victory over Weber State University. The senior tailback ran for 265 yards on 27 carries, breaking the single-game rushing record by a UNM player set by Mike Williams. The Los Angeles, Calif. native scored three touchdowns and a two-point conversion, had runs of 34, 48 and 63-yards - the last being for a touchdown.
Reines, a transfer from the University of Minnesota, was one of the only bright spots for the volleyball team, which went 0-4 at Wichita State University's Green Mill Restaurant Invitational over the weekend. The junior outside hitter led the team in hitting percentage with a .226 average. She also led the Lobos in aces with five. The Big Lake, Minn. native had the most kills on the team with 61.
