Arts in Brief

The theatrical troupe from the Tricklock Theatre, the 2001 winners of the Alibi's Best Live Performance Troupe, are at it again with two new one-acts for your viewing pleasure.

The Tricklock Theatre Company - formerly Riverside Theatre - offers two new, and unique community productions "Wasp" and "Our Daily Bread." They will run together from Sept. 6-29.

"Wasp" focuses on the yearnings of a bizarre American nuclear family. Mom is preoccupied by the voices that talk to her in the kitchen as she ponders love.

Sis's only desire is to become a Castrati - a male singer castrated before puberty so as to retain a high voice. Son consults a spaceman from another planet for advice and insight. And Dad, well, the voices just won't respond to Dad.

"Our Daily Bread" directed by Michel Blum, is the second Tricklock offering. In this play our attention is turned to get a unique look at the workplace.

When an exploited worker, known only as Man, is suddenly set upon by an angel who offers him a carrot, he's positive that he has gone crazy. However, as events unfold, he finds that the angel has in truth come to earth to save him from his boss - and himself.
