Jane McGrath, an associate professor in UNM's Pediatrics department, was named president of the National Assembly on School Based Health. The announcement was made at the Assembly's School Based Health Care Conference in Denver, Colo., June 20-22.
The group is a national organization of school-based health centers in the United States and its territories. On the assembly's Web site, its mission statement says it aims to be a powerful public policy advocate for the interdisciplinary school-based heath care community and the children and youth it serves.
The conference received sponsorship from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration; Bureaus of Primary Care and the Maternal and Child Health of the Kellogg Foundation; the Colorado Department of Health; Colorado Association for School Based Health Care; University of Colorado; and Denver Health.
