Clinics offer allopathic aids, relaxation

Stressed? Hungover? Just need a little space to breathe? Clinics La Clinique and Inhale make for a healthy dose of healing and relaxation.

Located in Nob Hill next to Kelly's Brewing, La Clinique at 3222 Central Ave. is a walk-in clinic and house-call service and shares spaces with Inhale, a 100 percent pure medical grade oxygen with aromatherapy bar.

Nurse practitioners DaVon and Shirley Knackstedt operate this three-in-one business with their two sons, Chris and Mike, and daughter Anna. Although the Knackstedts have combined the three businesses, they don't want it to be seen as an alternative medical practice.

Instead, they consider it an open-minded medical clinic that is influenced by new ideas and old traditions in healing.

La Clinique is a fully operating allopathic medical clinic that can test, diagnose and prescribe ailments. Having worked in places such as Chinle Navajo Reservation, Chama and Tierra Amarillo - the Knackstedts have experience in providing medical services for families and small communities.

Inhale adds to the flavor of this multi-faceted operation with aromatherapy oxygen. Inhaling100 percent pure medical grade oxygen combined with healing aromas is as entertaining as it is good for the brain.

If a pure oxygen rush is your thing then aromatherpy in combination with the oxygen will act as a balm for your olfactory gland.

The theory behind aromatherapy is that certain smells are known to set off different sense reactions, giving a sense of calmness, alertness or attractiveness.

So, what's the protocol for a customer at the oxygen bar? First, choose from the aromatherepy blend menu. There are ten blends: energy, creativity, seduction, excel, hangover helper, healing, sweet dreams, prosperity, chill out and stress ease.

Next, choose a level of comfort. There are four differently arranged lounges. The 'chow chair' is comfy for one but better for two. The 'Shiatsu' is a fully operating massage chair and recliner. Or choose from one of the 'stressless' recliners.

The 'East Indian Table' is for parties of six. It also is ideal for a midterm study spot as it stands just two feet off the ground and is surrounded by plush pillows to sit on.

All seats come with their own custom-sized Hookah/Narsila from which you can enjoy the pure medical grade oxygen in combination with the aromatherpy of your choice.

An eclectic collection of exotic murals by Alan Greene, arousing music and mannequins create a unique setting in which one can just sit back and breathe it all in.

Inhale is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. The price for an aromatherapy session is $10 for fifteen minutes and $20 for thirty minutes.

La Clinique walk-in clinic is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week. The price to seek professional medical attention is $30 dollars.

House Call is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week; the cost for a house call is $75 dollars.
