The UNM softball team split two doubleheaders with Mountain West Conference opponents on the road this weekend.
The Lobos (10-19-1, 2-2 in the conference) went 2-2 against the University of Utah (14-30, 3-3) and Brigham Young University to open conference play.
UNM pulled out a 7-6 victory versus Utah Friday in the first game, but were shutout 3-0 in the second game.
Saturday, the Lobos won the first game 7-6 against BYU (11-20-1, 3-3), but the Cougars answered with a 6-0 shutout.
UNM returns home next weekend for a pair of doubleheaders. The Lobos play San Diego State University Friday and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas Saturday.

The UNM women's golf team finished in 10th place in the 2002 Ping/Arizona State University Invitational at Tempe, Ariz.
The Lobos were still in contention after the first two rounds, but struggled Sunday to finish with a 41-over par 905.
Senior Claudia Ferrini led the way for the Lobos by shooting a 5-over par 221 to finish in 12th place.
The University of Tulsa won the tournament with an 871.
UNM turns its attention to defending its conference title when the Lobos participate in the Mountain West Conference Championships April 22-25 in Bend, Ore.

The UNM baseball team continues its struggles after getting swept in a three-game series against San Diego State University this weekend on the road.
The Lobos have lost seven straight games, dropping their record to 15-20, 5-7 in the Mountain West Conference.
UNM lost 4-2 on Friday, 7-2 Saturday and 13-9 on Sunday to get swept for the second straight series. The Lobos have lost 10 straight games in San Diego, Calif.
UNM begins a four-game homestand Tuesday against New Mexico State University.

The UNM men's golf team finished in third place at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, this weekend.
The Lobos shot a final round 292 to catapult into third place with a 1-over par 865. Scott Hailes led the way for UNM by shooting a 3-under par 213.
Baylor University won the tournament with a 19-under par 845.
The Lobos' next match is in Tempe, Ariz., when they compete in the Arizona State University Thunderbird Intercollegiate tournament.

The UNM women's tennis team went 1-2 in three games against conference opponents this weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Lobos (10-9, 3-2 in the Mountain West Conference) opened the weekend by routing the Air Force Academy 7-0 Friday. But UNM dropped its next two matches, losing to 22nd-ranked San Diego State University 7-0 Saturday and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas 4-3 on Sunday.
The Lobos play their final home matches of the season April 13-14 when they take on the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University.
