LETTER: Irresponsible identification may brand suspect for life

I don't pretend to know the circumstances surrounding the alleged rape at Sigma Phi Epsilon in March. However, by printing the name of a "possible suspect," you may well have ruined a young man's life.

Again, I don't know whether Matt Stafford is guilty or innocent, but (more importantly) neither do you. Imagine he is tried and found to be innocent - the retraction you would eventually print would do almost nothing to clear his name. This man has been branded a rapist, and that mark will remain regardless of what the future holds.
