The UNM baseball team ended its longest homestand of the season in impressive fashion with a sweep of the University of Utah after defeating the Utes 13-12 Sunday.
The Lobos feasted on home cooking, going 9-2 in the team's 11-game home stretch, which included a 3-0 start in Mountain West Conference play.
The Lobos won with offense, scoring an average of 15.3 runs a game against the Utes (12-11, 0-3 in the conference). UNM beat Utah 13-9 Friday in the conference opener for both teams. The Lobos followed that up with a 20-11 pounding Saturday and completed the sweep with Sunday's victory.
After starting the season 4-10, the Lobos have won five straight games to improve their record to 13-12.
The offensive hero for UNM in Sunday's victory was freshman catcher Todd Stroud, who went five-for-five to lead an 18 hit attack.
