Editor,
On March 26, the Daily Lobo published an article about Professor Monica Cyrino. The reporter, Jason Gil Bear, included an evaluation of Professor Cyrino's attire: "Cyrino, wearing a slim-fitting purple shirt with tailored black pants and stiletto heels . joked about wanting to look more like Mariah Carey."
I did not find this particularly newsworthy, and I wondered what it had to do with the scope of the article. Professor Cyrino was asked to resign as chairwoman. How she dresses is irrelevant. She made the Carey comment offhand in reference to the "paparazzi" following her. That is all, no critique needed.
Mr. Gil Bear also quoted Professor Richard Berthold in the same article. Interestingly, he included no mention of his earth-tone flannel shirt, faded denim jeans and walking shoes. I wonder why?
