Editor,
I would like to applaud the Daily Lobo on the March 6 article regarding the Kansas City shooting and the National Rifle Association's reaction. I read this publication on a daily basis and I was ecstatic to see an article showing the NRA's point of view. It seems to me that more often than not the Lobo strays from a two-sided argument/opinion.
The two individuals involved in the situation were both highly trained, as are mostly all NRA members. Yet the media packs in scrutiny by pounding us with backhanded falsities. When will gun owners be recognized and applauded by the media for their decision to arm themselves?
The NRA was trying to prove one point: The media turns its head to the part that weapons can play in a situation. It is the opinion of this reader that the "horrors of packing heat" are a mere product of our media. If the role that defense weapons play in everyday life weren't so shunned, the public would be forced to understand them through one strategy: educating themselves.
I suggest all readers sign up for classes at your local shooting range to learn a little bit more about your second amendment rights.
