LETTER: Affirmative action benefits

Editor,

I find it ironic that Sarah Hunt would sell "quota cookies" as the racial reflection of affirmative action, yet did not include in the mix a cookie representation of the group which has benefited the most from affirmative action in the past 31 years: white women.

In fact, had Ms. Hunt - and the Daily Lobo, for that matter - conducted any research on the topic, they would have discovered that those who actually benefit the most from affirmative action are white people.

If this nation genuinely rewarded talent, skill, and ability by always hiring the most qualified candidate for a particular job, the need for affirmative action would never have arisen.

There is a name for those white folks who have a problem with affirmative action and see it solely as a race issue: they are called racists.
