The UNM men's and women's track and field teams had their best performances of the spring season this weekend in the Wolf Pack Invitational in Reno, Nev.

The men's team took home first place in the 12-team meet, giving head coach Matt Henry his first victory at UNM. The women's side nearly copied the men, but came up just short, finishing in second place.

Matt Gonzales led the way for the men by winning the mile in a time of four minutes, 21 seconds. Sophomore Cameron Clarke finished just four seconds behind his teammate to place second. The distance medley team set a school record with a winning time of 10 minutes, 20.37 seconds. Also corralling a victory was the four-by-400 relay team, winning with a time of three minutes, 18.68 seconds.

Monique Harris led the way on the women's side, winning the triple jump and the long jump. She won the triple jump with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 41 feet, 10 inches, meaning that she is now a candidate to join the field at the 2002 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
