Sports in Brief

The UNM men's and women's track and field teams look to rebound from last week's sub-par performance when they head to Reno, Nev., Saturday to compete in the Wolf Pack Invitational.

The Lobos finished fifth on the women's side and sixth on the men's side last weekend in the Air Force Invitational and will compete against a large field in Reno.

The Wolf Pack Invitational consists of a bevy of junior college teams and 13 Division I schools looking to earn a good showing.

Both the men's and women's sides have leaders to follow in sophomore Chris Orrell and senior Monique Harris. Orrell and Harris were selected Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Orrell shined last weekend, tallying two individual victories and a second place finish.

Harris kicked off her final indoor season in fine fashion, winning the long jump and taking second in the triple jump.

The UNM diving team will be looking to get a good warm-up before the Mountain West Conference meet when it splashes the pool in the Air Force Invitational this weekend.

The meet Friday and Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo., is the Lobos final meet before the conference championship Feb. 27.

UNM is led by a pair of sophomores in Becca Barras and Tracy Berghian. Barras has the fourth best score in the conference on the three-meter board and the sixth best score on the one-meter this year. Berghian is third on the one-meter and seventh on the three-meter board.
