Editor,
Well, UNM men's basketball team, you did it. I did not think it was possible, but you did it. You have successfully accomplished what no other team in the past 20 years has from my standpoint.
Usually, I am very optimistic and proud of a men's basketball team from the University of New Mexico and not disappointed until the final buzzer of the final game the team plays that year.
I was sad Kenny Thomas only scored one point in a rout by University of Connecticut in the NCAA Tournament.
There was that final heave for a trey at the end of a hard-fought title game with BYU last year that would have put us in the NCAAs if everything else had gone our way.
BYU got their butts stomped, so we probably got lucky not being there.

Those are the small things. Minor events in the history of UNM men's basketball that would have shown well on statistic sheets and possibly helped or hurt recruiting.
What you are about to read is not meant to be just another fan babbling and ranting.
This letter is to tell you that I am sick of defending you guys when people tell me that UNM will never beat this opponent or UNM will not make it to the NCAAs, and if it does, it will go down 0-1.
I'm sick of every, no every day, reading that Marlon Parmer quit, Patrick Dennehy cried, Eric Chatfield pouted and then you guys can't even get grades that show you are not only warriors but smart warriors.
You lose to Air Force at Air Force. Heck, they got a pretty special thing going up there and have taken a few of the contests to the limits.
So what if they got lucky against us. Wait, there I go defending you guys again.
They did not get lucky. They beat you fair and square because you little babies can't get along with your coach and each other.
You are children. Go play St. Pius, Hobbs or the elementary school for the deaf and blind.
No offense to these schools, especially the latter, but kids at these schools get along and play hard and generally make their community proud of them.
I'll make you a deal, quit now and the community won't think any differently.
We will all understand that you knew that you could not do it. You guys don't have what it takes to get to the second round in the Mountain West Conference Tournament in Las Vegas.
You imbeciles embarrass me.
I'm done insulting you and, trust me, if I was face to face with all of you, including the man-child who leads you, I would have a plethora of insults to say, and I would not refrain from obscenity.
Oh, and Fran, don't think that you are immune to my wrath. Get it right or get the Fran out.
Suck it up and get out here, and do whatever it takes to make this community proud.
I am still behind you but not for long.
