LETTER: Martinez's tactics not Republican

Editor,

This small note is in regards to the letters written by an individual who claims to be a Republican and Catholic.

Knowledge means understanding. I am grateful I know the principles that the party I belong to stand for. That reaffirms my conviction that the comments made previously do not reflect in any matter the mind frame of most Republicans. Our conservative way of thinking does not prevent us from respecting others even when their ideologies differ from ours.

Furthermore, as someone who was raised in the Christian faith, I deny the validity of arguments using God to justify criticism against others. The base of Christianity is love. Sarcasm and intolerance are traits shown by those blinded with ignorance and should, therefore, be disregarded.

Also, it is worth noticing the number of times the word stupid or other denigrating terms were used in his letters. This, again, demonstrates not only a lack of good manners but it also weakens any arguments made.

Is this what "normal" people do to a state a position?

I choose to be weird, then. After all, the world has been changed only by those who were once considered crazy. The others just stand there and watch.
