Editor,
Your editorial in Monday's newspaper contained glaring errors:
"It's doubtful that the 'mandate' that the voters sent will be of much good to the more than 50 percent of freshmen who won't see their sophomore year." Usage error: quotation marks are properly used only when quoting someone - not the case here.
Content error: My call to Rio Grande High School administrators resulted in firm denial of the 50 percent dropout rate between freshmen and sophomore years. Maybe you should call them and apologize.
Also: "It won't help overworked, underpaid and rarely appreciated teachers who are the back-bone of an already fledgling system." A fledgling is a young bird who has grown feathers but has yet to fly. When used as an adjective, it means novice or inexperienced. The APS system is neither.
Perhaps the editor is the party who should "head back to school."
