Senior Monique Harris of the women's track and field team and sophomore Matt Gonzales of the men's track and field team are the New Mexico Daily Lobo Athletes of the Week.
Matt Gonzales won the mile run in the Wolf Pack Invitational Saturday. His victory time was four minutes, 21.76 seconds to earn his first victory in the spring season. He also helped second year head coach Matt Henry get his first victory in a meet at UNM.
Harris won the triple jump at the Wolf Pack Invitational with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 41 feet, 10 inches. With her first indoor national qualifying mark, Harris is now a candidate to join the field at the 2002 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. She also led the way in the long jump, setting a personal-best for the second straight week with a leap of 19 feet, two inches to take third.
