Matthew Kenicott's letter in the Daily Lobo exemplifies that a Republican is a follower. He claims that our campus is run by "the leftist community" and that we are being taught to "hate everything America stands for by communist-leaning professors."
Wake up! We are not the ones playing follow the leader. Kenicott takes the words of Bill Fuller and uses them as if they were his own independent creation just like a good robot, I mean Republican, is supposed to do.
College is not here to confirm the true teachings of his forefathers but is an institution that is in place to produce creative thought and tolerance - two characteristics Matthew Kenicott obviously lacks.
He speaks of anti-American sentiment emanating from UNM's "empty minds" and assumes that if our views do not parallel his own, they are wrong.
Last time I checked, Matthew Kenicott, we live in a free county with the freedom of speech that gives you the right to babble nonsense as well as myself. I commend the brave soldiers who have fought and died to keep these freedoms alive, but I do not think that they would appreciate your futile attempts at bullying the UNM community into silence and consequently trying to limit our freedom.
