Editor,
Once again the Senate has managed to show its ignorance and hypocrisy. When senators are running for office, such as Grant Nichols, they are constantly talking about how ASUNM needs to be more accessible to students.
That is a great idea. Few students on campus actually know what ASUNM does or if it even deserves to be a campus organization.
So I would like to ponder the idea of why the Senate would like to cut the fees sent to the Daily Lobo. The Lobo is where most students get their news about campus events. Where else can the Senate better get their message across to students then through a free publication that is readily available to every single student across the UNM campus?
If the Senate wants to connect with students, it should do it through the Lobo.
Every student does not have the time to sit in on the ASUNM meetings and realize what the Senate is here for.

In fact, I would even like to see a weekly letter to the Lobo, from either Andrea Cook or one of senators in ASUNM. If they did this, we could understand what they are trying to accomplish through their own words.
So once again, I would like to tell the Finance Committee to look at things other than numbers and realize the importance of budgets they are deciding to cut. The way that ASUNM can be more accessible is through the very publications they are trying to take money away from.
