Editor,
I am writing this letter in response to a situation, in particular, that does prove and exemplifies the "corrupt and biased" politics of ASUNM.
Directly, I would like to address comments made by these Senators: Bryan Colton, Sarah Bullard and Evan Kist during the Wednesday Senate meeting. In the previous letter that I wrote to the Daily Lobo, I stated that ASUNM politics were corrupt and bias in the favor of traditional Greek politicians. These same words I still strongly stand behind.
Sen. Colton, is it is true that you sit as an ASUNM senator and not as a Greek? If so, then why did you vote against sufficient funding for the M.E.Ch.A. Youth Conference? This conference has, and continues to, involve UNM students, as well as outreach to area students who may someday become UNM students.
Sen. Bullard, you are another example of biased politics. How dare you say that the same youth conference "does nothing for the UNM community." The M.E.Ch.A. Youth Conference, which has gone on for three years and has reached out to the community's youth, as well as recruited them as future students.
Ms. Bullard, the UNM community does go further than your elitist perception of who is, and is not, the UNM community. It does also include youth who desire a chance to receive higher education, perhaps similar to the one you were granted.

Sen. Kist, do you believe that discrediting this conference as being merely an issue of orange juice refills is mature and un-biased.
Can anyone point out one time that Sen. Kist has reached out to high school youth in hopes of building an empowering sense of community, other than the social community of traditional Greek life? It may be possible that he does not know nor understand community building and empowerment. This is shocking, because during election time students were coerced into believing that the above-mentioned senator knew and understood the UNM community.
Since these comments are evident of the blind views some of our ASUNM senators harbor about our community at the University of New Mexico, as UNM M.E.Ch.A. we set forth a challenge. Because we could not receive financial cooperation for the conference, maybe we can instead see each of you impact a youth's life.
Therefore, we challenge you to prove that you are unbiased ASUNM senators and are for the future of all UNM and its community. So, come out Thursday, Nov. 29, for the MEChA Youth Conference and prove that you are upholding the position you were elected to!
I would like to extend my appreciation to the senators (you know who you are), that this letter does not apply to, who will not give into these politics and continue to support all of UNM's current and future students.
