Editor,
This is my third semester at UNM. I'm doing what I can to take advantage of my education - that does not, however, include anything in terms of extra-curricular activities. I go to school, go to work, study, exercise, work a total of 16 hours on Saturday and Sunday and I come home to a wonderful man I plan to marry when I'm done with school, which is where I deserve to spend my evenings.
Now, I'm sure there are those out there who think I have plenty of time left to be actively involved in the UNM community, but it's my choice.
The only thing I do keep up with regularly is the Daily Lobo. In reading the Monday issue, I was sickened by how much money ASUNM is spending on events that I have no interest in and will never have anything to do with.
I will never attend a homecoming event, and why does it cost $6,000 to rent moon-walks and hire a DJ, anyway?
My proposal is that students not be charged fees for events and groups that they have no affiliation with and that if students want to partake of that aspect of UNM, they be financially responsible for it themselves.

Me, I'm broke enough without additional charges for committees and events that I have no interest in.
Maybe ASUNM should raise student fees to help me pay my PNM bill this winter - the costs on that are rising, too.
By the way, what is ASUNM and what goes on with their Film Committee, their Lobby and their student court?
I will vote against the ASUNM amendments on Wednesday. I hope the majority of the student population does the same.
