LETTER: Moustapha Diagne rounds out Lobo play

Editor,

Lobo basketball fans are going to have a lot to cheer about this coming season.

The addition of Ruben Douglas' play last year was only a taste of what's to come from him this year. The Lobos already had an outstanding back-court in Marlon Parmer, Eric Chatfield and Tim Lightfoot, but with solid performances this year by this group could lead the team to a conference title and an NCAA Tournament bid.

To relieve some pressure off of the back court, we need to bring in a "go-to" power forward or center, who can draw double-teams and dish the ball out to the 3-point shooters Douglas, Parmer, Chatfield and Lightfoot.

If we can accomplish that, I think we have a great chance of winning more than 25 regular season games, including the smearing of Stanford in The Pit.

Moustapha Diagne should fill the defensive and post up role of the center position, coming down with second chances for the Lobos to score and eliminating the threat of other teams scoring inside. Overall Coach Fraschilla has done a great job as head coach.

With great recruiting the last couple of years, we should see some of those recruits emerge as big-time players in the near future.
