Editor,
As an obstetrician-gynecologist and a family practice physician on faculty at UNM, as educators and as strong supporters of reproductive rights, we were profoundly discouraged to see the eight-page anti-abortion advertising supplement in the Oct. 18 edition of the Daily Lobo.
Clearly, the issue of abortion raises strong emotions and moral questions.
However, this advertising supplement is simply anti-abortion sensationalist literature and blatant misinformation. This type of "advertising" is nothing more than a smear campaign against a viable and safe reproductive option for women. Although the moral dimension of abortion may be debated, it is unconscionable to generate this type of one-sided, inflammatory material replete with inaccurate medical information.
