U.S. ought to strike back, keep details from the public

Editor,

In viewing Tuesday's events, people on campus have been talking about what retaliation actions we ought to take.

All around campus you hear individuals saying, "The U.S. should be polite and not fight," and all this nonsense, but the truth is that we cannot stand terrorist assault like this, period.

We do need to attack the individuals who did this and demonstrate that the United States is not to be messed with.

People of the United States need to think rationally. That's how the world works - if someone attacks us, we had better attack back with twice the enormity.

That's why we live the way we do. If we don't attack back, we will not succeed as a nation. I just wanted to let people distinguish that we do need to retaliate, and believe me, there is no such thing as a peaceful retaliation.

If our country does attack in any method, they also need to keep the information contained and keep the attacks and suspects within the precincts of U.S. defense. The public doesn't need to know the whole lot - we would be feeding our enemies information and letting them plan against us.

We need to retaliate promptly and keep it out of the public's view.

UNM Student
