Editor,
There have been many thoughts and emotions flying around about how to handle the attack to New York and the Pentagon.
However, the idea presented on Friday's Daily Lobo Opinion page concerning keeping retaliation details from the public is ridiculous.
"To retaliate promptly and keep it out of the public's view" would be completely unproductive. The attack to our nation was horrible, and yes, some retaliation is needed. We must strike back, rebuild and save face.
However, I do not see the reason for keeping it hushed. We retaliate for Americans; we retaliate for the country. In the United States, the country is the people, the citizens.
If we retaliate and the people are unaware, then why retaliate at all?

It would be futile and pointless. Not only that, but it would be impossible to strike in any significant way and keep it from the public. The international news network of today is massive. When something goes down, we will all know about it.
I simply do not understand the logic of hiding the retaliation. The retaliation should not be overdone, though. We definitely cannot kill innocent people.
This country has worked long and hard for the past 200 years to build our reputation as a Republic. And a Republic nation does not run in with guns blazing. We should fight for justice and fight to end terrorism, but not fight for anger.
I heard a rumor that Donald Trump wants to build the world's tallest building on that location. I say let him. Let him show that America does not waver. We get back up and we stand tall.
