Editor,
Richard Berthold should have changed his last name to "Cranium" years ago.
This guy is the epitome of the "whiny intellectual," people who say and do what they want while hiding under the guise of academia.
You know, the kind of person who bitches and moans loudest, but never engages in any direct action in relation to what they complain about.
When shots rang out at Kent State and bayonets shed blood right here at UNM the Richard Bertholds of the world were under a desk somewhere safe, retreating from their own big words which hours and days earlier made them feel so smart and strong.
Most of us learn valuable life lessons about our actions and the consequences of those actions, generally we learn these lessons anywhere between the ages of 16 and 35, Richard Berthold is apparently a late bloomer.

When thinking about the Richard Berthold incident, I am reminded of Dennis Rodman and how our media forced us to watch a 30-year-old NBA millionaire go through the stages of adolescence he apparently missed out on 15 years earlier.
Both instances make me a bit quesy and sad.
Berthold, you made your own bed, now sleep in it and don't cry if your bed is no longer at UNM.
Since Sept. 11, everyone seems to be a philosopher and political analyst. Many of us are surprised, confused, and angry. Didn't any of you read Machiavelli's "The Prince" or watch the Nostradomus movie?
Wake up! This is life. Live it and enjoy it the best you can. If you pay attention and continually learn and grow, this should not be a problem.
